Sun Country Everyday Hero:
Celia Baker - Shakopee, MN
Celia has been working with people who have disabilities since 2012. She fell in love with helping people, that she decided to change what she was going to college for during her third year of college. She now has three jobs. One is where she helps people move out of nursing homes and back into the community. She has to work even harder due to the affects of Covid in nursing homes. She also works in a group home. She got to go to Disney with one of the clients. Her clients mean so much to her that she invited them to her wedding! When Celia first started, she worked closely with one of the clients. Unfortunately that client passed away a few months after she started. She made sure she was at the home to be there with this client when she took her last breath. She also works as an ILS. This field is very under paid. Celia has always said, “I’d rather go to work happy making less money, than go to work angry being rich.” It has never been about the money when it comes to Celia. It’s always been about the passion she has for the work that she does. It puts a smile on her face knowing she has made a positive difference in her clients’ lives!
